Job Description
About the Role
Are you passionate about making a difference in the telco industry? If so then, we'd love to hear from you.
We are looking for a collaborative and detail oriented ongoing Senior Policy and Systemics Issues Officer to prepare impactful public policy submissions and investigate complex systemic issues, promoting data-driven analysis to address emerging telco industry challenges effectively.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and strong stakeholder relationships key to coordinating responses to government departments, regulators, consumer and industry bodies on complex telco issues.
Additionally, you’ll provide leadership and support to other team members, ensuring a collaborative and effective team environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Undertake complex systemic issues projects using best practice investigation techniques.
Lead systemic investigation report projects to support industry improvement.
Prepare policy responses on complex and sensitive emerging trends, industry code/law reform, and industry issues.
Respond to government departments, regulators, consumer, and industry bodies on complex and politically sensitive issues.
Monitor telecommunications market developments and recommend responses.
Lead the preparation of reports and advice on emerging complex industry issues.
Support a ‘policy community of practice’ with proactive and reactive initiatives.
Promote data-driven and evidence-based analysis in all policy and systemic issues work.
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Requirements:
Experience in any of these fields – Law, Research, Policy, Regulatory Affairs, Complaint Handling & Investigation,
Proven ability to deliver projects on time and articulate/present complex information with clarity,
Strong stakeholder engagement and high-level advisory skills,
Commitment to confidentiality, privacy obligations, and TIO’s Vision, Purpose and Values.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in law, public policy, or commerce (desirable).
Ability to identify and escalate risks, build productive relationships with stakeholders, and apply innovative thinking to complex problems.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Working proactively and collaboratively as part of a team.
