The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (the TIO) offers a free and independent service for resolving complaints about telephone or internet services.

The TIO’s purpose is to provide an effective and efficient dispute resolution service for the telecommunications industry that complies with the Benchmarks for Industry based customer dispute resolution schemes.

Job Description

You’ll report to the Senior Lawyer, who will provide a supportive team but trust in you to work autonomously. You will have a key role redacting files and updating key registers.

You’ll become a key piece in this team providing administrative support, preparing critical correspondence and conducting legal research.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing files for information requests under the Privacy Act 1988
  • Preparing simple legal documents for review by the Senior Lawyer.
  • Using your legal research skills to locate cases or relevant commentary and member products to review our jurisdiction

Desired Skills and Experience

You will possess a diligent attitude and be someone who can efficiently handle routine tasks with consistent attention to detail.  You will be open to feedback with an inclination towards continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Have great attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Work autonomously towards deadlines while managing multiple tasks
  • Be a digital native with sound understanding of Microsoft Suite and Adobe Pro
  • Ability to understand complex legal concepts and language
